My family and I travel regularly and after 20 yrs away, we came to visit my childhood town and stayed at the Grand for the pool and location. As a hospitality worker, here's my two cents:- attentive, polite staff, but not enough of them.- bathroom; hot/cold vanity taps are reversed, no towel bars/hooks, no extra toilet paper, no soap dish. Clean and semi modern.- room; was freezing upon arrival, but after 45 minutes was very cozy warm when we turned on the heat.( booked our room over a week ago and they could have turned heat on b4 check-in?) - clock was 1 he 20 minutes off. - sheets were not fitted on mattress. - empty can on floor by bed.All and all this hotel is nothing special, but O.K.. I've stayed in 3.5 star hotels that are worse and better. Biggest issue was the housekeeping doing less than minimal!
Our room is lovely and comfortable. Our total stay will be 4 days and it is very quiet for a long weekend and, I think, full capacity. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.
Staff friendly and courteous! Check in and out were good. Restaurant had good food and service. However the hotel needs to be upgraded. New carpets and furniture needed. Tv was limited. Bathrooms were very old looking and needed repairs. Bed and pillows were both comfortable.
Stayed one night before taking ferry to Portland. Rooms and beds were fine. Some maintenance issues: deadbolt did not work, bathroom counter was detaching from wall. Dog friendly, which was why I chose this hotel. Did not eat at the restaurant or use any of the amenities.
Great hotel and very friendly staff. They saw I was exausted from my long drive and let me check in early. The restaurant food in the hotel is very good. My stay has been very pleasurable.
